Update

To all who gave by praying, giving money to our adoption fund or buying from our baby registry so that we were fully prepared for June’s arrival, THANK YOU! We could not have done this without your partnership and we are forever grateful for the ways you sacrificed so that we could bring our baby home.

I’ve kept the information about funding our domestic adoption below for those who are interested in the expenses of domestic adoptions currently in the U.S.

Funding

One of the main topics that we get asked about regarding adoption is the expense of it. Just to clarify, a baby does not cost this amount, we believe all human lives are priceless and that our child would be worth more than all the money in the world. BUT the process of taking care of an expectant mother in a way that helps her remain as physically, mentally and emotionally healthy as possible before, during and after birth is so important. The cost of helping expectant mothers in the way they deserve as well as the medical and legal fees that come with the birth and adoption of a baby adds up to a hefty sum. Currently that sum for private domestic adoptions in the United States typically comes to between $40,000-$55,000. That number doesn’t include the initial application and home study fees that you have in the beginning that usually total at least a few thousand dollars or more. I hope that helps your understanding of the reason for the costs of adoption. If you have any questions feel free to reach out, we would love to answer them!
